Some Blogs I Love!

Posted by Swati on Feb 5, 2010 in Articles, Random Thoughts |

Hi Everyone:

I’ve made some great blogging pals over the last year – and their posts are too good not to share!  I have enjoyed reading them….hope you do too…

Organic motherhood with Cool Whip writes about a new trend – eating your own placenta (yep, that’s what I said, placenta & eating in the same sentence).   Curiosity and confusion should make you click in to her hilarious account about a conversation (and education) she received from a mid-wife pal of hers.

My admiration goes to my single mom friend at the Poverty Diet who lives exactly what her blog’s name implies…in her words “live within your means, no matter how meager and depressing they are.  YOUR SOCIAL LIFE WILL COME TO YOU IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO GO OUT.”  She’s constantly cracking me up with posts from the Denton Police Blotter (2 women mooning….that’s all I’m saying).  I also love her Poverty Diet recipes – yummy and inexpensive!

Los Angeles Single Mama writes so poignantly…I always feel what she’s saying right to my core…check out her post called “When I Knew it Was Over” to see what I mean.

Jael Custom Designs writes about Kiva, a program allowing each of us to pool our money together to offer loans to entrepreneurs in poverty stricken lands.  You HAVE to feel good about that! By the way, she has four kids and is married to her high school sweetheart – which I think is SO sweet!

Ok, have you ever had one of those days when the worst and best of your life all come together in one DAY?   But, thank goodness, in the end you know that all really is good and right and amazing in the world?  If you are a romantic like me, you must check out Vivianne’s Vista, pronto!

MrsBlogalot is one of the wittiest, in your face, writers I have ever…well, not met.  You must go here though because I actually LOL (not just type LOL) when I read her stuff! This post is called Sex, Taxes, What’s the Difference?

Big City Dad writes about the intriguing book Searching for Whitopia: An Improbable Journey to the Heart of White America, written by his friend, Richard Benjamin.  As Big City Dad explains, the book is “an exploration of the social and political implications of the growing phenomenon of ‘Whitopias’—small towns and exurbs without diversity.”  What’s so intriguing about it? Benjamin researches his book by living in separatist areas in Idaho, Georgia and Utah for several months at a time.  Now on my list to read…

And finally, two more sites I want to say a word about… http://singlerose.com/ dedicated to providing resources and support for single moms (take a peek!) and http://cheekybanana.com, started by my college buddy, Lesley, a collection of original, delicious children’s clothing (I cannot believe how creative she is)!

Happy reading all-

Swati
